Impact of Slots on the Aerodynamic Performance of the Variable Inlet Guide Vane Cascade of a Centrifugal Compressor

This study reconstructed the flow field of a symmetrical variable inlet guide vane in centrifugal compressor through passive control method slots. Based on high-fidelity numerical simulation model verified by experiments, influence different slot forms was investigated, and mechanism revealed. The results demonstrated that can effectively suppress suction surface separation broaden range low-loss incidence angles. Overall, 50_30 slotted achieves best control, with 65.6% reduction total pressure loss coefficient 2.3° deviation angle, respectively, at 25° angle. linear characteristics pre-swirl grade variation curve angles are also improved. Furthermore, changing outlet angle has most significant aerodynamic performance as it changes throat width location, thereby affecting rate momentum jet. Finally, impact velocity varies first self-similarity region vane. indicate that, contrast to baseline vane, suppression effect jet improves velocity, whereas declines velocity. Meanwhile, higher incoming better inhibition separation.
